Groan. I wasn't expecting that, even with the title. But why change the detective's name?
Comments from author:
Sherrinford Holmes was the first name Arthur Conan Doyle gave to the Great Detective. Changed before publication, of course.

Oh, my GODS, that's a bad pun! *grins* Brilliant.
I'm not a Holmesian myself (or whatever Holmes fans call themselves), but I would definitely enjoy reading more stories like this one.

Ouch! < Throws peanuts > In truth, I wouldn't mind if this became a series (based on the classic "canon" mysteries), with Buffy becoming "Sherrinford's" new Watson. And while I'm not usually a proponent of the "Dumb Buffy" fic style, it might be interesting if her friends figured out his identity but she didn't (not current enough to be on her pop culture index), and they refused to tell her for some reason (either at Sherrinford's request, or for Giles who could decide that Buffy needed to learn "a more analytical approach to slaying"). Hmmm, "The Revello Drive Irregulars" isn't quite as pithy as Scoobies or Slayerettes, but I could get used to it. ;)
