Yes, I know which 'steak/stake' is which, but first time I read this series I recall at least one incident in which Hailey and friends are described as eating 'stakes' at SG1's favorite steak hangout, so I'm pretty sure you meant 'steak' there, rather than the 'stake' you slay a vamp with.

Yes, you're right. For some reason I thought you were talking about at the end when she stakes the vampire. Spelling is not be strong suit and those stupid homonyms are evil. We should slay them.

Another delightful chapter (only slightly marred by your tendency to say 'brake' when you mean 'break' and 'stake' when you mean 'steak', etc.). Love the way you've captured Xander's goofiness and competence.

Thanks for the comment. I'll have to go back and check the break/brake thing, but steak is actually the meat where stake really is the pointy wooden thing.

I'm enjoying this series. Glad to see the Stargate folk taking the whole superstrong girl in stride. Too many stories go for the evil or misguided government agents trying to control something they know nothing about. I'm glad you're avoiding that.

I'm looking forward to the next story with Xander. What will Hailey think about next? Sacrifice? Destiny? Waffles?

Considering what they do for a living and the way the SGC folk relate to each other, I figured they wouldn't have her on the dissection table. Xander will be in the next one, and will Hailey probably wont be thinking about waffles, I sure am. Now I want some.
