Very interesting. I'm not familiar with a lot of these fandoms, but I liked them anyways. I don't read a lot of Halloween fics (cause they're often Zander centric and I'm a Buffy fanatic) but I liked that pieces (memories and powers) stayed behind after the night ended.

Glad to see that you have an update, and interesting choice of character.
The problem for me with this choice is that there needs to be more hints on what will happen afterwards. Will there be a Buffy personality at all? Will she be slayer anymore? Will she leave Sunnydale to take on higher duties? There are too many questions open to allow me to Dream up a continuation.

Thanks for the hints. I will try to revise this and answer some of your questions, but I suspect it will take a while. I don't have access to the comics right now, and I think I need it - for inspiration if nothing else.

First of all youve done a very good attempt of Death characterisation.
But Death would be much less serious and without doubt she would try a more carefree and sarcastic approach of the situation.

Thanks. It's been ages since I read any of the Sandman comics and I never did have a very good grasp on Death's character. However my muse wasn't going to let this one lie. I'll try to edit the story to be more accurate once I have access to the comics again.

Hmm... Xander going as the soldier, Buffy as River, and Willow as Inara?

Interesting idea.

Borrowing and turning this into a longer story... very tempting, though I would have thought Willow would be more likely to go as Kaylee. And how would someone have convinced Buffy to go as River?

Feel free to borrow.

As for the choices of costumes - Buffy was determined to get Willow to dress out of character, thus Inara, and wasn't about to dress as Kaylee herself. Dungarees? No thanks. Besides, River is just a fun character to write.

Xander would have gone as one of the guys, but couldn't find/afford the props. Thus why the soldier reminds River of Mal.
