This has got to be one of the best Faith centered stories out there. You did Faith justice with this. Thank you!
Frankly Faith is my fav character. well her and Xander. Buffy not so much into the bubble brained bleach blond bimbo bitch with a big head ego. Nah not so much. Faith on the other hand is what a slayer should be. Up front , in your face, take no crap from anyone and sort it out later after the ashes have cleared.
Once again, Thanks.

Thanks for the review, and I'm, glad you enjoyed it.
As you're a Faith fan, check my profile here: there's a link to my FFNet profile and my Faith/Xander/Cordelia non-xover series there that you might enjoy.

I've just finished the series and I've really enjoyed it. Love how Faith has grown into herself. It feels very true to her. So glad she laid a verbal smack down on Buffy. And I have a niggling feeling that Robin is the one who put the hit on her. Probably not, but it is the petty, narrow minded, revenge driven kind of thing he would do.
Please tell me you will be continuing in the verse. I have to know if Faith finds her "sister" and how she and Dawn do with that friends thing.
Good story.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. ;)
Yes, I am going to continue. It's a bit on hold at the moment while I'm a) working on "Night Watchmen" and b) doing some back story and development on the underlying universe and mythology before writing more in it. I don't want to get to where I can't keep track of all the moving parts.
*snicker* Past time someone laid a verbal smack on Buffy, IMO. ;)

Marvelous. It's unpredictable, fascinating, exciting. You managed to avoid all the cliche' traps. Great stuff. I love a smart, tough hero - and you have given me lots of them! Thank you sophisticated plots and complex characters. Elora gives me the cold shivers. Even the minor characters have motivation and colour.
Comments from author:
Elora was a bit spooky. And dangerous. ;) Thanks.

I love that you haven't abandoned this series... really looking forward to what comes next. (And of course, I'll have to re-read everything when you start the next one... hehe.)
My opinion about season 8 is, if possible, worse than yours :P I'm sorry for Joss or whoever is writing that crap, but they could learn a lot from fanfic.
Comments from author:
I'm being publicly charitable. My real opinion of S8, based on the issues I've read, is unprintable. ;) MY favorite "canon" for post Chosen season 8 is written by NWhepcat and Lizbeth Marcs, with JetWolf's "Chosen" and Watcher's Season 5 running a close 3rd and 4th.
And yes, Whedon *could* learn a LOT from the best of fanfic writers like NWhepcat... but he probably won't.
Naw. Not abandoning it. Had a case of Real Life happen to me the past several months, and my muse got derailed a bit. ;)
My direction for where I want to go started getting complex enough that I decided I needed to back up a bit and 1) design a semi-coherent supernatural mythos for my version of the Buffyverse (which necessitated a lot of Canon research), 2) determine what's happened and is happening in the new Watcher's Council so I can keep track of all of the moving parts, and 3) design a rough timeline for events for my reference. Basically, a lot of drudge work that kinda gets in the way of creative writing, but it needs be done.
Don't worry. More to come. Eventually. ;)

Utterly love this sequence. Really looking forward to the next instalment(s).
Comments from author:
Thanks. That one took some work - I was trying to get it as close to one of Tom Kirkwood's column episode endings from Night Heat as possible while staying original.
I came to the conclusion that it worked, but it's probably a good thing I don't write an editorial column. ;)

heyuReview:
This is my favorite thus far. The author does an excellent job combining characters (including different versions of vampires) into a believable world and an excellent story. Centered on Faith and her travels after leaving The Watcher's Council, the story starts with a pool game with the Winchester brothers and quickly becomes involved in an all-city battle against vampires, assassins, a secret branch of the "old" watcher's council, and even the local police.
This is a long story, but it is well worth the read. You do NOT have to read the entire series to enjoy and understand this story.

Thanks for the excellent review.

Luv your work. Cannot wait for the next chapter in Faith's quest--and it must be Tru Davies. Also left the FBI fake guy hanging around with an open contract from the past??? Kept waiting for him to strike in the last few chapters, but you kept it quiet and introspective. Love the decked out for battle Faith. Maybe someone will do some good art.
Thanks so much for sharing,
Comments from author:
Thanks. And you're welcome.
And yeah, I had a lot of fun writing the "gearing up" chapter aka "Only Shooting Stars" - the concept of exploring how the character goes about puting her game face on and psyching up for a major fight intruiged me; juxtaposed with the physical elements of getting armed and ready. That's one of my favorite scenes, and one I always thought came out closest to how my mind's eye saw it.
Re: the vanishing fake FBI guy and the mysterious contract? Heh heh heh - if yer gonna do a series, you have to have the occassional recurring bad guy and unfinished subplot. It's the Buffyverse Way! ;) He'll show up again.
Working on the next installments. There's elements and potential repercussions that should flow logically from this that I need to work out carefully, and they're not quite flowing on the writing front yet.

If you're taking a poll for who Faith's "twin" should be, I vote for Tru Davies...that freaky "reset the day" ability could come in real handy.... the problem with a lot of the other possibilities (from Eliza's various films) is that most of the others aren't good fighters...although the girl from "True Lies" would likely be fun---
I've seen 'fics where Faith IS the girl from "Bring it On" ---so it's possible to collapse a few of 'em together... can't you just picture "True Lies" then goes to high school (Bring It On) etc-?
Comments from author:
Heh heh heh. I have a wierd little offshoot fic running through the back of my head where Buffy gets visited by *all* of them in a Slayer nightmare after she stabs Faith in Season 3. I may have to find a Round-Tuit and write it out one of these days. ;)
Naw. No poll - I already know where I'm going, I just have to get there from here. ;) It is fun to mention the possibilities, though. When I do, you'll see if you guessed correctly. I agree that Tru Davies offers the most possibilities - and there's just *not* many (if any) really good Tru Davies/Faith crossovers around.
"the problem with a lot of the other possibilities (from Eliza's various films) is that most of the others aren't good fighters..." - Alan
Jessie from "Wrong Turn" would do ok on that score. She handled herself pretty well against the mutant cannibals. She'd probably make a good Slayer if anyone ever wanted to do a Wrong Turn x-over.

purrfusReview:
Amazingly informative chapter in so many ways.
The letter from Wesley was especially well done. The amount of detail presented is definitely important for the story, but could have been overwhelming or boring. The format you chose, and the way you used Wesley's voice really made this flow beautifully.
