An interesting beginning, although I'd rather have seen 2 chapters with 3 parts each. (I just like longer chapters.) It'll be interesting to see where you go with this.

This makes an excellent feed-in to the main story.

Ginny planning on doing a project on the first Imhotep then? (As oppose to the real historical Imhotep who was later worshipped as a god of medicine - although you could argue that maybe it was *this* Imhotep that was the legend behind the god, the later Imhotep named for him when they sensed his power...)

I love this idea. And Harry thinking/saying things in Ancient Egyptian. Wonderful. You also seemed to get the old-style feel of the lit better as well in this one.

So, next one, the Memoirs of a Leader? The Journal of a Scholar? The Scrolls of the Pharaoh?

I liked the Harry/Ginny interaction too, since I specified the inclusion of it in the challenge! Oh, I'm so excited! Someone liked my ideas!

yep you guessed it scrolls of a pharaoh comes next. i need to do the prequel first because i am behind in stargate as well and need to catch up on the fifth, six, and seventh season. but i do want to do a larger story.

Hmmmm. When did Buffy learn ancient Egyptian. And I think you have a typo in the last paragraph. Shouldn't Giles be saying that he didn't know why he had the book as ancient Egyptian was a language he DID'NT know? I probably need to re-read it.

That reaction should have allayed your fears about whether the challenge was open to just anyone - it was.

One observation is that you said Giles didn't know why he had the book - ancient Egyptian was one of the languages he was fluent in. Should that be 'ancient Egyptian was not one of the languages he was fluent in' or 'was not a language he knew well'. Which of course leads to the question of: why was Buffy able to read it? Past Slayer memories of course!

I love the idea of doing a prequel where each of them read about their past lives, not knowing - sounds good. And the reference to Imhotep too - that was cool. Although the language of the diary was a little too modern-sounding in my opinion, but then I like to write Jane Austen fanfiction too! Particularly phrases like 'at least'. And any modern words like 'weird' and so on, although I don't think you used it.

If you want a beta or someone to bounce ideas off, e-mail me or send a message on TtH. I'd be happy to help. Or if you want me to 'age up' the language in textbooks/diaries, etc. I'm good at that too. Or Brit-pick (being British, I'm handy for the HP/Giles side of things).
