Yay, a technological discussion of Serenity's systems that doesn't sound like it was made up by the idiots who created treknobabble. I really like how you show the wear and tear on the ship as a foil to the loss felt by the crew.

Also, nice work in NOT skimping on the technical stuff (however imaginary) -- it's comforting to know that you, as an author, have taken the trouble to figure out how and why things work, and what the physical limitations are on your version of 'Serenity'.

RTG's aren't imaginary, btw; they're exactly as described here. Seemed like a reasonable piece of solid, realiable tech for Serenity to be using.
And yes, I like knowing/describing/using the limitations of the people and machines to help drive the story.

Thanks, I kind of think so too (and I tried really, really hard to like RtN, and couldn't do it).
On the other hand, if we're talking word count, then that other guy wins hands down....

The writing software in my head has been crashed for a month or two now, but I'm trying to get things working again.
