I love Illyria's unique way of pursuing this ritual, with shades of the rite of confession in her language and a conscious nod to wedding anniversaries in the objects she accumulates, as she makes for Wesley a portable anchor to the world of the living.
However, the math doesn't quite work out right for this line and its follow-up: '"It has been three thousand, one hundred and seventy six days since your passing,"' -- since that would imply nearly 8.7 years has passed, instead of the five years specified by Illyria in the next line (which would be more in the neighborhood of 1,826 days, roughly).
Otherwise, I love it, for all its dark ambiguities and moments of light and joy.

You're right about the math, I just did it on a calculator. Which I thought I'd done the first time around. *facepalm* I'll just go fix that now....

I guess Illyria was intentionally trying to get Wesley's spirit stuck to the box. I guess Illyria is all about the long term planning.
