I know Buffy can pretty much look out for herself, (at least I hope so since he might have more back up this time) but this change of events could cause some serious problems for Cordy.

Good chappie, glad to see the hyena incident still happening...though I wonder how it'll play out with the dynamics of the group being different. Hope we see some furthering of the plot (regarding finding Buffy's brother & what's up with Jack) soon.

I'll get to it, don't worry. Buffy's birthday will be up after the hyena thing. Jack will come. I'm also somewhere going to insert some more Cam. Lindsey, angelus, the master, W&H and Charlie. A lot of way to go.

The fictional Sunnydale is roughly the same size as the real Lompoc, and I can't find any mention of zoos in Lompoc. Santa Barabara, however, does have a zoo, and is just next to the fictional location of Sunnydale.

ETA: Why does Santa Barabara seem too far out? It was my understanding that Santa Barbara and Sunnydale are physically in the same place. Sunnydale's location was described as being "on the outskirts of Santa Barbara".

It wasne't a zoo that was in Lompoc, just a little bit east of there is an consulting firm called Active Environments, which is an animal behavior consulting firm dedicated to enhancing the care and welfare of captive animals. Santa Barbera seemed too far out so I changed that to being the zoo near Sunnydale

not that it's relevant, but I'm pretty sure Glory's key hunting snake monster started life as a regular snake in the reptile house of the sunnydale zoo.
Another good chapter, I like that you are incorporating other elements into Buffy's personality, the changes to her that the changes in plot has made, far more Faith like. Anyway, looking forward to more.

Oh yeah, forget about that. Still seems weird for hat town to have a zoo that is only shown two times. Makes me wonder if the inihabitats of Sunnydale even evacuated the zoo when the town went into a sinkhole. Course none of that happened, but it would have been nice to see trucks going out of town filled with animals.

By all accounts, I would say that it would be stretching it for Sunnydale to have a zoo, or even a second high school. It's not large enough. On the other hand, we must not forget about Wilkins.

Much as Buffy dislikes having gone to the institution, I can't help but wonder what the alternative would have been. Chances are that she would have been sent to a juvenille penal facility.

As for Buffy's daddy issues, in her eyes they aren't worth getting upset about. Can't wait to write Jack coming to Buffy's birthday, it'll be a blast.

you've got that part down, Buffy does tend to shut down emotionally & give up on people ... when she's upset enough.
if this goes far enough in time, are you going to include Dawn? It'd be interesting to have a Dawn who still likes Jack and thinks B. is crazy until she finds out about vamps... or maybe there's a custody fight over her after Joyce dies...
And I shudder to think of teenage-clone-Jack showing up in Sunnydale. hee.....
So--now we know why Cam survives the battle of the Antarctic.....

Don't jump too far ahead, lol. Cam knowing Buffy will have consequences for his career. I'm not sure about Dawn, have something else in mind, but there is still a chance.
as for the rest, wait and see. :D

Another good chappie. I'm glad that you had Buffy & the girls talk about magic having consequences. & I wasn't surprised to see Hank basically the same as canon. I can't wait for her birthday party & the first interaction between Buffy & Jack.

Wow, Stacy is awful. I'm surprised Buffy was able to hold back from really reaming into her. Well, I have to say I'm glad Hank is out of the picture and now maybe we'll get to see more of Jack. I'm surprised Joyce didn't ask about what made them come back early and I'm wondering if Buffy mentioned how she refuses contact with him now. Probably not the easiest of things to explain. Well, great work!

It was late and Joyce didn't want to get into it so the pressing as to why Buffy wanted to leave Hank's place so badly will begin the next morning. Jack'll be ther for Buffy's birthday so more Jack will come soon.

Buffy's main goal is keeping Jack away from her, so that's unlikely to happen. Jack is stubborn though. He'll find out eventually, just not for a while. Thanks for the review.

Great chapter! I especially love that Buffy keeps throwing the car issue in Giles face. Mean of me, I know. I can't wait for Jack's surprise visit to Sunnydale. My hope is that he'll see that Buffy never lied and we can see some more movement toward rescuing Charlie because of Jack's hopeful involvement after discovering the truth. Yeesh, did that make any sense? Well great work and please update again soon.
