Review of chapter "Chapter 15" from zigpal
Review:
Great update. Hmm, me thinks that Liv and Chelsea have some some discussing to do before they report back to Cragen. Lets hope they come up with something. Maybe they should ask Munch for a conspiracy. Hmm, I wonder how Faith is going to handle Willow final words. Too bad none of the 'Old Guard' of W&H is around for Faith to 'train' with.

Review:
About the Finch killing: Even if they still had all the evidence, and they added some more, such as Buffy testifying at the trial, any reasonable description of what happened in that alley (substituting "gang on PCP" for "vampires") would probably result in Faith getting charged with Involuntary Manslaughter at the most (and even for that I think you'ld need to have a prosecutor who was in a bad mood that day.)

If it had gone to trial, there would be a very good chance that Faith would have walked, and at the worst it is unlikely that she would have been sentenced to more than two years, and she served that time.
Comments from author:
I've always thought that Faith's canon conviction ranked as one of the worst breaks with reality in the Buffyverse. *wry smile* I don't claim to have done any better...I do hope it was at least believable.

When I was researching an earlier fic, I ran across some information about the California penal code. Depending on your beliefs on Faith's age, she might not have even served a day - for Finch at least. The professor was a different story altogether, but there was no mention of physical evidence on that at any point in the show. If there had been, I imagine the Mayor would have disposed of it.

Review:
Intricate explination. But I'm still confused on one part. Why did the council want to deactivate Faith back when she was first activated? Yeah, it's unprecenecented to have 2 slayers, but now that there was, why elminate one? No, she wasn't as council trained as Kendra, but she has been with "Lady D" for a few years before she was activated. And their relationship with Buffy wasn't exactly the best. Not to metion that there was a chance that another slayer would not be activated unless both Buffy and Faith die at the same time.

And is it possible in your stories to OD a slayer and Crecrnium Serum so they lose their powers without killing them?

To answer the question at the end of your update; not many!

Another enjoyable read, when you've finished I'm really going to have to read this one through again.

So, how did Faith escape California's law system after she confessed?

thanks for the read,

Dave.
Comments from author:
*g* I could see Olivia looking at Warner with one brow raised when she asked that (and, of course, it was Butch Liv...) Oh, wait. That's in my fantasies. Oops. :)

Faith didn't escape until after she was sentenced to life in prison. She served...two years before breaking out of prison to help Angel and Co. in the AtS ep "Salvage." She's been on the run ever since.

Review:
I wasn't sure about this Faith and Willow thing at first. It seemed to me that they had a genuine distaste for each other even before Faith went off the deep end. While there are a few episodes where Faith gets a bit sentimental this story works pretty well.

Hm, dragon dice? I still have my old dice somewhere. I recall the old ones were soft plastic. My D20 was almost round by '87 We had to be careful how hard we rolled it or it would shoot off of the table like a marble.

Gods, I'm actually getting nostalgic for the 70's. I hated the 70's.
Comments from author:
*shudders* No nostalgia here. The 70s...and the 80s were not pleasant. I do remember the dice, though, and the scads of books and character sheets that lined the floor of my closet :) I always wanted to actually *look* like the Elf I normally used: tall, regal, thin... Reality was harsh.

Faith and Willow...they work better after S7 since they did have that bit of shared evil in their past. It gives them something to build on. In my wonky mind, Willow's early aggression and active hatred of Faith had more to do with her jealousy of Faith's sudden role in Buffy's life. Now, hopefully more mature, she can appreciate Faith as a person.

Quality time for Faith and Willow?! Yay! Too much? Enjoying two squad rooms separate
styles.
Comments from author:
Thanks :) It's a blast to get to play with two different 'teams'. They have such diverse styles and personalities, but I bet they are both used to results.

Just as I thought all my tracked authors had died or left the planet you do an update...thanks. Another great chapter.

I like the way you have the characters get tired, too many people forget that even fictioonal characters need to sleep (I used to have this problem when I umpired RPG's).

Another great chapter, thanks.

All the best,
DaveT.
Comments from author:
Hey, Dave.

It took me a long time to realize that I didn't get commercial breaks like Joss *g*. So...to make up for that loss, I decided to stick with the action and not jump ahead in time. That means poor Faith gets tired and grumpy and all those things I didn't really get in canon.

And it's a bear to get RPGs to seem realistic. *g* Of course, I played back in the days of dragon dice and costumes...

Another great chapter. One of the things I really like about this story, aside from being a Willow/Faith fic, is that the Native American storyline has it's bases from actual fact.

Like seeing Faith in charge and also how she is treating Willow. You also did a wonderful job in capturing everyone's personalities very realistically.

Comments from author:
I've been spending a lot of time researching this one. Since I'm far more familiar with the Plains Tribes, it's been fun and informative. Faith is really a pet project in this fic. I normally write Faith in earlier seasons. I am enjoying the chance to develop her Redemption Faith character, showing all the little struggles and pitfalls along the way.

Brilliant, really loving this.

You have the characters so spot on it's scary.

Looking forward to more and thanks for sharing.
Comments from author:
*bows low* Thank you. I am over the moon that you like the characterization in the fic. For me, the major players in both BtVS and SVU really make the show - even more than the high-octane plots.

*bows* Thanks, Dave. I hope to un-murk the plot very soon.

Just love the conference call and the byplay between everyone, especially Willow and Faith. Your plot line is really finely detailed and even though I'm not familiar with the detective show you write the characters in such a way that gives them great depth and makes it easy to follow along.

Can't wait for more!

Comments from author:
Thanks :) I'm glad you liked the conference call; there is a lot going on for the New Scoobies right now, and they needed to see what the Tweeds had to offer. The Willow and Faith relationship is fun to do - if a bit complex. Hopefully, that will continue to develop over the next several chapters.

Faith is making sure there is a Scooby society even in NY and this is going to be one of my
favorite on going F/W stories for a long time to come.
Comments from author:
The muse is definitely letting Faith show her softer side. I think that you'll see a lot more that that family building aspect as the fic continues to unfold. *bows low* I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

Review:
Ok my second attempt at posting a review this morning (my first got blocked by the site back-up).

Two chapter up-date great thank-you I needed that. I thought everyone I'd been tracking had died or was living up a tree without a laptop!!!

I like the way the relationship between Faith and Willow is developing and I'll be real interested to see what's in that envelope.

SVU characters come over nicely too (not going to say too much on that coz I've not seen too much SVU to really comment).

Looking forward to more,
DaveT.
Comments from author:
Not dead, Dave. But the up a tree analogy was certainly close, thanks to Hurricane Ike. The muse and I are slowly getting back in the swing of things, and I hope to be back on track in another week or so.

Faith and Willow have really become the primary focus now. I wasn't so sure in the beginning. :) I'm glad you are enjoying the slow build up. And, I promise to reveal the info in the envelope in a chapter or two. It's been part of the plot outline since Chapter 1.
