I'm confused on the sequel statement re: "Once Burned".

Did you start to post it on tthfanfic but then pulled it off? Are you re-writing chapters 1-11 (ch11 posted 2008/06/12) already posted on fanfiction?

I never did post it on tthfanfic, I thought about it and realized I"m not sure how long it will be. And since this is primarily a crossover site and the sequel will not be a crossover I wasn't sure I could post it. I'm not rewriting the chapters, I'm continuing with what I have.

Excellent story and I am looking forward to start reading the sequel.

Good work and progression. Would wonder if Xander might be the one you use if you keep Buffy from returning. As much of Faith's grief and issues relate to his attempts to befriend her. Just a thought, but if you have him relate to the hard homelife (not nearly as bad, but at least understandable and you could have him project his own to help her see), him confront but forgive her for the choking incident in her motel room, his own sense of being isolated yet apart of the team when they tolerate him (him being the Zeppo), his Xmas out in the snow and such you could have him finish breaking down the walls and showing her how to rise above her mistakes and be apart of something better than herself regardless of others opinions, just because she knows it's the right thing to do and it makes her feel good. Don't know if you were heading this way, but thought it the best way to deal with the other demons she still hasn't confronted and allow Xander who is the closest upbringing wise relate to her. Keep it up.

That's actually a really interesting idea. I actually really like it, that would be completely appropriate and also set Faith and Xander up for a better relationship in the sequel... unfortunately I've already written the next scene... thank you for reading and suggesting!

I consider it irritating that people (in real life or in the BtVS universe) bitch at Faith about this. Some twit leaps out of the shadows in a dark alley at night into the middle of fight with vampires and gets staked. Boo-hoo. Both a classic friendly fire incident and an evolution in action write-up for the Darwin Awards. Buffy was - and here apparently still is - all sanctimonious and self-righteous about that. What Faith should do is tell Buff where to stick her lecturing about that incident.

Oh I know what you mean, I feel the same way. I definitely don't blame her, it was an accident anyone could have done, including Buffy. This is just the way Buffy sees it- still, unfortunately- and the way that Faith herself feels guilty over it and all her other decisions are made based on not resolving her guilt over that.

Great story. I'm looking forward to reading more.

noticed in your reply to Lupo that you were going to write a sequel and update sonn, I'm going to hold you to that because this story while sad is to good to be left hanging.

Your whole take on Buffy being in Faith's mind and Faith's reaction to it is amazing. This is one of those rare stories that I can just fall into and instead seeing words, I see it play as a movie behind my eyes.

I have a couple of questions, there are schools of thought that believe being mentally unbalanced opens the door for a type of possession. Will this allow a demon to have taken up residence in Faith's mind that she and Buffy will have to defeat. Will it need to be brought into the "real" world to be defeated?

Would having such extreme empathy or being in Faith's mind, leave Faith's mindset imprinted on Buffy? Would Buffy and Faith start exhibiting each others personality traits?

This really is a great story and I hope you continue with it.
