I'm loving watching the characters grow up. It's interesting, and warming, to see characters who are usually treated as just "bad-guy minions," spear-carriers, or mere victims, being strong and brave and useful. The second string, stepping up to the plate.
This story keeps getting better.

Okay, this is really bad of me. I haven't read the next chapter cause I want the time to read the chapters before it. I just wanted to say, thank you so much for updating and I will be looking forward to whatever more you can give this story.

Wow. And can I please say wow again? I am really enjoying this. Thank you for a trying to go right Faith and Toad. And a Pyro that doesn't go bad. I will defiantly be tracking this story so I can read the hopeful soon updates.

I think the chance to shine on their own (away from Buffy's shadow, in Faith's case) will be good for them, as will having someone who accepts them, green skin or Destiny and all. As for Pyro, he just didn't seem to be the altruist type like Scott, or the habitual good-kid like Bobby.

I'd like to be able to update this one sooner next time as well.

I gratefully read this update - it has been a long time since the story progressed, and I look forward to possibly reading more. It has a good hook, and that uppercut came out of nowhere...

My characters weren't co-operating with me, and RealLife got busy.

Now if they'll just stop grumbling about stupid Council Watcher traditions and scary giant snapping turtles, I can keep the story going forwards.

Faith wasn't co-operating. sigh. I want to write more, not only on this one but on several other WiP's. It's a combination of RealLife interfering and stubborn characters not working with me on the projects.

I just got caught up! I found this story last week and have been slowly reading it between things at work.
Anyway, I love that you have Faith "being good" on her own (no Scoobie/Angel intervention) and I would never have thought of putting her with Mort but they are a really good couple. You write them well!

The Faith/Mort pairing was from an urge to try something different, and I enjoy trying to use the less-popular characters. Mort's not on any top 10 lists. I'm glad that you're enjoying the way I write them.

As for Faith being good without Angel or the Scoobies - it would be absurd to think that people only make life-altering mistakes in Sunnydale, or even California. It would be absurd to think that only people who've met a certain group can regret their mistakes and want to do better. And I never felt like Faith had a strong connection to any of the rest of the BtVS cast. Maybe if it had been developed, but... as canon stands, it wasn't by s4.

This is an amazing story, and I am so glad you have stuck with it. Faith and Mort relationship is developing nicely. While it is probably disappointing to Faith and Mort that neither the Scoobies or the Xmen are rushing into fix things, your way gives a bunch of overlooked, underutilized people the opportunity of their lifetimes. More please.
