Absolutely wonderful. I love this story more every time I read it. The characterization is wonderful and I think you avoided every single Dawn or Anita Blake fic cliche. It was such a relief not to read about a superhero Dawn, or a horribly bitchy Buffy, or an one dimensional all powerful and completely sure of myself Anita. Everyone was real, complex and very in character. The plot was well thought out and interesting, and I even almost liked Kennedy. (That would deserve a rave review all by itself.)

--Wednesday began way too early for Dawn, who ironically enough had never been a morning person.
Neat observation :)
I like how you visibly switch tones between Anita's thought and Dawn's. Very well done. Good insider / outsider perspectives :)
Excellent use of Anita's faith.
Nice enemies and cool research-based, terrible trueform description demon construction.
Great way for the Slayers to become legitimate. Smart them being the military's demon-only answer to federal marshals :)
Nice epilogue too, kind of wraps it all up in one neat package. Great story and no wonder you win so many awards :D

Just wondering around the site today, and felt a need to read this again.
The story is wonderful, the characterization is great, and the little details like the meaningful glances etc are beautifully done.

""Don't you dare start on Dawn."
"But she wasn't here on Friday."
"She was tied up," Anita snapped. "Big bad guys, tried to get a demon to eat Larry?" She glared up at Bert. "And it was all because of this job! They never would have come after her if not for this job! You should consider yourself lucky if she doesn't sue for hazardous working conditions!""
--Oh! I forgot how...greedy-Bert is, and for a moment, thought he was concerned for Dawn's welfare. Loved how Anita dealt with him.
Wonderful ending! Loved this story! Now-on to the Buffy/Rafael sequel!

"Dawn frowned. She was getting grumpier and grumpier as the morning dragged on. Did that mean she was getting better? She hadn't felt grumpy the previous night."
---Cute.
"The doctors were going on about super healing and all that crap, but I say it was her winning personality that convinced them to let her out."
--I hate Kennedy. I like this quote.
"A friend?" the nurse loaded the word with sarcasm. Buffy made a small movement, but Dawn beat her to the reaction.
"Yes, a friend!" Dawn exclaimed. "Just because you have a problem with lycanthropes, don't go picking on my friends."
Buffy turned to the nurse, crossing her arms over her chest in an echo of Faith's stance. "I think you should send in another nurse," she said.
Colour high in her cheeks, the nurse turned on her heel and stalked out of the room.
Dawn let out her breath in a hiss. "I hate people like that!""
---Just like when Dawn, Buffy-everyone-stood up for Tara from her family.
Loved this scene so much! I was giggling, and all happy.
"Faith laughed, while Buffy let out a tiny squeak. "What?""
--Buffy's still the big sister/slayer/mom figure.
BUFFY! Yay-so that's what she was doing *besides meeting Rafael and planning her wedding*-GO Buffy GO!
"Had Buffy been sad to die? Happy that the fight was over? Dawn had never been brave enough to ask.
Buffy smiled weakly at Dawn, but it never reached her eyes. "
--It would hurt too much to know, I think.
OR, it was Jean-Claude (It makes sense, he wants these wretched slayers out of his city)
"I'm missing all the gossip."
--Dawn's life is a soap opera
""Oh, can we go to a steakhouse again and freak out the waiters by ordering a whole cow?" Faith asked. "I always like doing that.""
---DBZ moment? Funny
"I have to be"-Sad!
Loved this chapter! Sister is begging for the computer, so I have to read the epilouge (And the sequal where it Focuses on Buffy and Rafael-cause I don't care about RPIT/or the cop from Angel, but that other story sounds super cool-)
Anyway. Love this story, chapter, everything!

"Yeah, it did. It made Faith think better of Richard, that he'd thought to tell her the truth, and that he thought she had a right to know. She hadn't had a lot of guys in her life treat her like she was good people. Robin had been the first guy to treat her right, like a lady. It was a good feeling. "
---I usually really don't like Faith, but this was so sweet. I loved her in this story!
Slayers (at least the oldest ones) seem to be very into the Were's (rat, wolf, etc. Richard is a werewolf, right?)
Great chapter!
Aww! Faith and Richard, Buffy and Rafael, And Anita with everyone *Just kidding-but only a little bit*
Loved this chapter!

""As we stand, ma petite, with only the third mark, I may survive your death. But I cannot imagine wanting to exist in a world where I do not have you."
She stared at him. Jean-Claude sat very still, careful not to disturb her."
---Aww! I love Jean-Claude!
Poor Anita, so depressed and confused.
Loved this chapter!

""We-killed-the-Hellmouth" party in May."
---I like the idea of a reunion/celebration party for killing a town.
"
"Buffy," Dawn breathed, sitting up.
For there, standing silently in the doorway to her hospital room, was her sister."
--No wonder they couldn't reach Buffy.
Loved that bit.
""Right." Dawn reached out, and Buffy carefully hugged her, not holding too tight. Unsure where Buffy was injured, Dawn was just as careful as she could be when she returned the hug. "
--Both Summers' have been through the wringer-cute/funny site, both being all sensitive and careful of eachother's wounds.
""Word around is that she hasn't been involved with anyone in a couple of years.""
---Is Spike and Angel and everyone dead in this story-verse?
Poor Buffy. What's up with her?
Great chapter

""Then can I look at your butt?" Faith asked. "Because it's cute too."
Anita was grateful that she was too tired to blush. "When were you looking at my butt?""
---Creepily cute
"Eyes still closed, Dawn said, "Bolverk lied to me, I think. I couldn't remember what was right, and what was lies."
---I understand-Tara smelled of Lavander (that was the truth) but Anya was Dawn's friend-didn't hate her (It was a lie that she did hate Dawn)-And Dawn is just confirming her reality.
"She roused herself slightly, remembering that she was supposed to go see a doctor, but even that was too complicated. Maybe after a little nap, Anita told herself."
--NOo! Anita, you'll die, and have brain damage, and-and-bad things will happen
Great chapter!

"Isaac nodded. "Before we came to St. Louis, I made sure that our plans took her into account. She will not be the one to stop us."
--Always a folly to only focus on one "certain" aspect of a situation, and ignore all other revenues of possibility. Especially when you steal the top Slayer's sister in order to use her as a conduit for a big bad.
This ritual for Bolverk reminds me of how the First Slayer was first turned into the Slayer
"Buffy died so that I wouldn't destroy the world. I'm not going to let her down again."
---"Oh my God, that's so sweet" are the exact words I squealed when I read this.
And the world broke apart. Yay Willow!
Jumping up and down, squealing with joy, and laughing manically. Loved this chapter~

I loved the warehouse scene between Faith and Anita (Faith is being so sweet! I actually like her in this fic. It's great)
Poor woozy, forgetful Anita.
"Willow lifted her hands. "I've had enough of this." She threw her head back, and Anita could see that her eyes were black, solid with power, just like a vampire. "Reveal!" Willow screamed.
The world broke apart."
-That is a wonderful line! Loved it (Just like when Willow came back from "treatment" and went all invisible, and how she just ripped at the power, trying to bring Tara back. Love it!)

"Anita stopped that line of thought. There was to be no further kissing of Faith. "---I just had to laugh. Very sweet. (hmm-well, she can look to the bright side; at least she didn't have to go all the way with Faith)
"She wondered if threatening to shoot Faith would help at all."
---no, it would just turn her on. It's the Spike affect (he falls deeper the more Buffy beats the shit out of him)
"Anita examined him, then shook her head. Even with the glasses, and even if he was a bit hot, as Faith had said, he was still Zerbrowski. It'd be like admitting that a brother was hot. Wasn't done."--
---Cute how Anita checks out Zerbrowski, just to see if Faith is right or not.
Loved how Anita stood up for Faith; look! She's collecting vampires, were's and now slayers, too!
