leaving out the fact that since he was traveling in a straight line parallel to the ground (i assume), it'd take a few seconds for him to touch the ground, I still say ouch. Of course, then he'd have to scrape some skin as he skidded along till the ground finally slowed him to a stop.
and yep, a friend can attest to wearing a superman costume while on his bike as a little child. He hit a bump, flew off the bike, and for about 2 feet was parallel to the ground with his arms fully extended in front of him. It took about 15 seconds for him to stop after he landed flat on the ground and skidded.

If he was 100 feet off the ground, it would take him all of 2.5 seconds before he hit the ground. Just about enough time realize he was in trouble, and say "Oh, crap!"
