Review of chapter "Meanwhile, back at the ranch –" from kayron
Review:
The reccomendations section of the homepage is a great idea. The first time I read this story was when the last update was posted in May '08. It's still a great read. How cool is this story? It manages to throw in a character from just about any fandom you can think of, and the story actually works. Because, even with all of the extra people, this story is basically about a family that loves a kid. And this family just happens to be dangerous to anyone that would harm their kid. It would be great to see this story continued.
Comments from author:
Thanks. Glad you're enjoying the story.

I'm kind of stuck at the moment on the next chapter, since I'm having to revise the plotline, but I'm hoping to get it finished soon, and have it down before Christmas. (No promises, though.)

Review:
Outstanding story! I just finished reading this story (at 4:51 am) in a single sitting. One of the best HP/BtVS crossovers I've ever read. I truly hope that you update this story, as it is far too good to let if languish unfinished. Every chapter has humor as well as action in good proportions. I especially liked all of the different characters you brought in from other sources (I'm just a lowly cook, my ass!!). Seeing Snape get his ass kicked by a 'cook' was great, then the way Harry finished him off at Hogwarts, first by goading him, and then by kicking him in the balls was great.

I'm currently reworking the storyline from what I had planned since I realized that what I intended to do next conflicted with later things I had planned. The next chapter will be out as soon as I can get my muse to cooperate.

Review:
I'm loving this story. There have been a fair few times where I began laughing for either good reasons or vague ones (Jon's introduction and the mentions of Dresden mainly).

I'm looking forward to reading more.
Comments from author:
Thanks for commenting.

Glad you enjoyed the way Harry welcomed Jon into the Scoobies. ;-)

I'm currently stuck partway through the next chapter after suddenly realizing that my immediate plans for what was going to happen would conflict significantly with later events I was planning, and now I'm trying to reorganize and get things back on track.

Review:
... So, have you abandoned this one? It's been MONTHS since the last update. I really hope to see more chapters again soon.

Thanks
Comments from author:
No, I haven't abandoned it but neither my muse nor Real Life (tm) have been all that cooperative as far as completing the next chapter is concerned.

Hopefully, that will change for the better in the next few weeks, but I'm making no promises.

Anyway, thanks for reviewing.

Review of chapter "Meanwhile, back at the ranch –" from Scorpio
Review:
I just re-read this story for the 3rd time *grins* and I gotta say that I really really love it. The snark, the violence, the attitude and the true sense of love between the members of the Scooby family makes me smile every time.

I can hardly wait to see the confrontation with Albus. It'd be funny if Xan set fire to his beard. Not to forget that Casey owes him two knives... Of course, if things really get out of hand, General George can just swoop in with the dimensional demon troopers he's babysitting. They can take out the DE's & the Ministry. *smirks* Go directly to that whole, remaking the world in his image thing.

I would love to see more of this please. *big shiny eyes & wobbly bottom lip*
Comments from author:
Thanks fo reviewing. I've got part of the next chapter written, but I'm currently stuck at one part.

Hopefully, my muse will help me resolve it shortly.

Review:
Great Gaia, man. This story ROCKS! I only really stopped reading it because I had to get to sleep. What will it take to get your muse back into working on this story? I'm eager to read more.

I've seen lots of crossovers of various types. This one blows them all away. I loved seeing the cameos of the more 'obscure' characters and references of other series. Casey Rybeck, President Ryan, Lennie Briscoe, Sara Pezzini, just to name a few. I hope more will be coming.
Comments from author:
Thanks for reviewing and I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I try very hard to make the crossovers characters mesh with the others and do so in a way that makes senses, rather than just throwing them in for the hell of it.

As far as the next chapter is concerned, I've got it partially written, but not nearly enough to post. I'm also trying to decide whether to alter the plotline I've had written out, since a couple new ideas presented themselves a little while back that would entail some significant changes to what I was planning, should I decided to incorporate them.

Another problem I'm facing is that I'm at the time of the year where I have to do a good amount of travel for my job and that takes some time away from my chances to write.

In any event, I am working on the story and hope to have something to show the world in the near future.

Review:
Y'know, you stated right at the front of the fic that this was all for fun. And it is.

These sprawling, spiraling mega-crossovers are lots of fun. Sometimes you don't want the draggy, angsty stories...you want a story where it's "dogpile on the badguy and we're going to rip it 20 ways from Sunday". This fic is way up to the task.

I love the casual, "cameo" nature of lots of the crossing-over characters, and how lots and lots of them are severely underused in crossovers. I think I nearly did a classic spit-take when i read that you managed to throw Casey freakin' Ryback into this.

One thing I absolutely ADORE: you give us good, justifiable, and unambiguous reasoning for hating Snape and Dumbledore. While I'm not a Dumbledore-hater, I always get this feeling that he was slimier than he came across, but I could never bring myself to dislike him. Snape is much closer, but knowing his backstory, you still feel the need to give him a pass (or, I did at least). Here, they're just assholes and manipulators with about no redeeming qualities. I LIKE that I'm anticipating Buffy and Xander putting Dumbledore through the Death Of A Thousand Cuts, and Snape just get PWND, thereby showing him that yes, he is a slimy git that is nowhere NEAR as good as he thinks he is, and he got owned by Muggles to boot. Perfect.

Keep this up! This is awesome to read. Cheers!
Comments from author:
Sorry not to have responded before this, but I somehow managed to miss your review. ;-(

Thanks for reviewing and commenting, I very much appreciate hearing from you.

As far as I'm concerned, I simply cannot begin to understand any of the people who defend Dumbledore's actions in any of the books. He is, at best, an indifferent and uncaring man who dumps his responsibilities off onto an orphan's intolerant relatives, or else he is a malicious and manipulative bastard who deserves to be skinned alive and have salt rubbed into his body constantly while an appropriate level of equally painful revenge is determined. He is in no way a saint or an addlepated but still well-meaning mentor. And if he is crazy, then he needs to be removed from the presence of the children in the school as quickly as possible, in order to keep them safe.

In any event, rest assured that this Dumbledore will be receiving his just desserts, although probably not as soon as some of the readers hope. ;-)

Oh gosh, more plz! ^_^ I really, really love this story. So many of my favorite characters are either in it actively or mentioned in passing, it's such fun to pick them out as it progresses.
Comments from author:
Glad to hear you're enjoying the story. Not sure when the next chapter will be out, since my muse appears to have gone on vacation without me. ;-(

Hopefully, that will change soon, since one of my normal betas has come up with a suggestion that my muse seems to be at least slightly interested in. Wish me luck. ;-)
