5. Arrival
Spinning like a top, Dawn clung to Ethan as he guided them around the wards metaphysically. He knew what he was doing, Dawn saw. He must have done this a thousand times in his life.
"Whoa!" He yelped when he materialized them. Dawn saw why as Ethan landed on his ass on the floor, holding her to his chest still.
"Swish and . . . hello, Ethan," a voice spoke.
"Day-Da," Ethan answered. "How many points for that landing?"
"Three," the voice told him. "Flick."
"Ouch," Ethan muttered getting up, helping Dawn to her feet. He then walked over to a small man, Dawn saw, knelt down and hugged him.
"How are you, my boy?" the small man asked.
"Good," Ethan told him. "Very good now that I've seen you, Day-Da. I need help. Well, Dawn does. She needs to be sheltered here from the council."
"You ae always welcome here, Ethan," his father told him. "Now, would you like to help me teach this class wandless charms?"
"Eh," Ethan mused, "why not?"
"Excuse me, Professor Flitwick," a red headed boy asked. Ethan knew who Lily's son was by a glance and he was sitting by a boy Ethan'd stake money was Irish.
"Yes, Mr. Weasley?" Flitwick responded to the boy.
"Is that your son?"
"Yes he is."
"But he's tall," he red head spoke.
"And?" Ethan himself asked.
"Well," the boy stated, "You're not."
"His mother was, Mister Weasley," Flitwick answered.
"I am so ashamed," the bushy haired girl sitting ext to him said. "Ron it is perfectly possibly for a little person to have an average sized son. Ethan isn't all that rare even if his mother had been small too."
"How did he get around the wards?" the boy asked.
"that is for me to know and you never to find out.," Ethan told him. "Excuse me, Day-Da, if you could spare me a few minutes? Explaining Dawn will take some time."
'Class dismissed," Flitwick told them all. "Three feet on the reasons pronunciation of spells has to be correct by next class. Good day."
The class cleared out and Ethan looked at his father.
'I need to gather the old crowd," he said. "Dawn is The Key."
"Damn!" his father muttered in his true voice. "Come on, my boy, we'll talk to Severus, Albus and Minerva about this."
Ethan nodded and they headed to the staff room. Dawn held on to him as they walked so she didn't get lost.
"Ethan?" she asked.
"Don't worry, Miss Muffett," he told her. "Day-Day and I will keep you safe."
Dawn nodded and continued to trust in him as Giles had told her to. Apparently the one person Ethan did not screw around with was his father. And since they were now with his father, Dawn knew it was safe. She just hoped Giles and Xander and Spike were safe, alive, and here soon. That was her only prayer at this time.
