Title: The Charms' Master's Son
Author: Kate R.
Rating: Teen to Adult depending on the part
Pairings: Giles/Ethan eventually
Summary: Filius Flitwick has a son named Ethan
Notes: this will lead to both an AU in Buffy and an AU in Harry Potter. I don't know if Ethan has any siblings but he may, possibly one named Xander if enough people are interested, let me know.
Filius Flitwick did not care about where his son came from. He didn't care that the boy's mother was a sorceress, he didn't care that the boy was going to be a giant compared to him, he didn't even care that the boy's magic was as his mother's for the most part although he could use a wand if he wished to. What Filius did care about was that the boy was his.
And now he had to be a parent to this wild child while still teaching at Hogwarts.
Grindewald had been killed during the Second World War a little less than ten years before the boy's birth. Filius remembered the boy's mother clearly and how she hadn't cared about his small stature or that he used a wand. Just as he had not cared that she was a sorceress and powerful in the Chaos arts. They'd had a few years together before she'd had to return home. Their last night had been a night where they did magic together and then made love while both of their magic's were around them. He'd left the next morning so she could return to her family and he had not returned to this place since.
Now though, she was dead. And the solicitor that had contacted him had told him there was a child that belonged to him as much as to his mother and the boy could not be handled by any of his mother's family. He was watching the boy right now.
"Ethan," he called. The boy looked up from what he was doing and smiled brilliantly before running over to him.
"Mum told me about you," Ethan began as soon as he was close enough to be heard. "She told me all kinds of neat things and that I would get to meet you some day."
"Would you like to come live with me?" he asked. Ethan's dark eyes lit up then and he nodded his head smiling.
"Oh, yes please," he said, excited. Filius smiled then and took his hand.
"Well then," he said, "Let's go pack your things. Hogwarts is a train ride from England away so we must get on our way."
The boy nodded and practically flew into the house and up to his room. His grandfather watched Filius with a shocked look on his face.
"I've never seen him behave like that for anyone," the man told Filius.
"Perhaps you try to control too much," Filius told him in return. "Isn't the nature of Chaos disorder? Trying to make Ethan fit into a mundane world will drive him away from you at best and at worst straight into the arms of insanity."
"Take care of him," the boy's grandfather spoke. "That little fire cracker has a lot of potential in him."
"I will," Filius answered as Ethan raced back down with his two small bags. Filius took his hand and port-keyed them out to the platform where the train to Hogwarts was waiting.
"Mum said she never told you what her last name was," Ethan told him as they boarded the train.
"It never mattered to us," Filius answered. "Your mother and I were more for only using our first names."
"It's Rayne," Ethan told his father as the train started moving. "That's the name on my birth certificate. What's your last name?"
"Flitwick," Filius answered. "My name is Filius Flitwick."
"Ethan Flitwick," the boy said. "Ethan Janus Flitwick. I like it."
