Chapter Two

Xander did not know whether to think of this as a joke or to call Willow. There was an owl presenting him a letter. Carefully, he took the letter. Then he made sure that his newest charge wasn’t going to kill the poor bird. The bird hooted and flew off leaving Xander confused. Slowly and carefully, he opened the letter.

His newest charge, Eula, looked on rather intrigued as her watcher changed colors from tan to white to red and to a deeper shade of red as he read the letter. When Xander was done, he folded the letter and sat down on the ground.

Xander thought the proposition over. Despite what people thought, Xander was far from stupid (although no one mentioned how close he orbited it at times); he could catch on to a few things. One of those things was Bellatrix Lestrange; who was the only other white person in the area for more than 100 miles in each direction. She was kind of hard to miss. She was also quite visibly insane. Xander closed his eye and thought about it: An insane fifty-ish witch was asking him out on a date via an owl.

How did he know she was a witch? Well, she had yelled it out at random strangers so many times and had done things that only Xander seemed to notice but no one else seemed to, or rather acknowledge, (Sunnydale Syndrome) and knew it was magic. Looking at his still curious charge, he mulled it over.

He could either:
A. Accept the invitation and go on at least one date with her
B. Have her kidnap Eula and then go over on the date forcefully
C. Call Willow and hide
D. Deny the invitation and be ‘hexed’

Although the witch had not given him option C, and it had taken him a while to figure out she had given him clearly stated options in the letter filled with rather detailed descriptions of what she wanted to do to him; he had managed to figure out what they were.

What disturbed Xander, aside from having an insane witch lusting after him, was the fact that he was considering option A. He looked at Eula and said to her.

“I think I’m losing my mind.” Eula looked at him confused but laughed due to his tone of voice and body language.
