Dawn took a look at her watch and winced, she had to hurry if she wanted to be on time for Quidditch practice. “I have to go now. Practice, you know, but I’ll see you around.” With that she grinned at Draco and left his room. His eyes followed her until she was gone. He was really glad that she wanted to go to Hogsmeade with him.
Dawn hurried down the steps in front of the castle and ran down to the field. The others were already there and had changed into their Quidditch robes.
Without greeting someone she hurried into the changing rooms and put on her robes. Clem thrown over her shoulder, she left the room and stepped onto the field.
“Hey Dawn. Where have you been?” Ginny asked looking down from the broom she was sitting on.
“I had to get my broom first.” With that she climbed on Clem and pushed herself off of the ground. Sighing, she flew higher and savored the feeling of freedom.
Harry shouted his instructions and Dawn knew that she had to follow them, there was no reason to ignore his instructions, at this moment he was just her captain and not the guy she wanted to punch as hard as she could.
Soon practice was over and everyone went back to the changing rooms, the girls got into the shower and Dawn pulled Ginny aside, she had to tell someone about her date with Draco or she would explode.
“What? You look excited.” Ginny stated looking into Dawns beaming face.
“I have some news.”
“Let me guess, good news, right?”
“For me they are, but I think Harry and your brother will flip.”
Ginny giggled. “Oh that’s okay, they flip all the time and just so you know I think it is really hilarious, and anything that makes them flip is good news for me.”
Dawn smiled she really liked Ginny, she was funny and kind hearted. Dawn couldn’t understand why she had no friends in her own year. Ginny had told her that was the reason why she was always around Harry, Ron and Hermione. She felt accepted around them.
“Okay, but you have to promise me you won’t tell anyone.”
“I promise.” Ginny said seriously and took a look around. Everyone else had already left the changing room.
“You know that next week is a Hogsmeade weekend, don’t you?”
“Yes I do.” Ginny answered expectantly.
“And Draco asked me if I wanted to go with him.”
Ginny’s mouth fell open. She knew that Hermione thought that Draco liked Dawn, but she had not been sure that Mione was right. Now everything changed, that was…weird. Malfoy, the guy who was always insulting her family and her heritage, was going out on a date with her friend Dawn. “Wow, I don’t know what to say. You sure about everything, I mean, don’t forget he is a Malfoy.”
“I know that everyone doesn’t like him, though I cannot understand why. He is really nice and sweet when no one is around. He even said that the least thing he wanted to be was a Death Eater like his dad.”
“Malfoy said what?” If Harry could just hear that...thinking about it, she knew Harry would never believe what he said.
“Does everyone really think he wants to be a Death Eater?”
“Yeah, because he hates Muggle-borns and of course because his father is Lucius.”
“Hmm...but his boggart was Lucius telling him that they were alike.”
Ginny furrowed her brows. “I know what you mean, it wouldn’t make sense that Draco’s worst fear is being like his father when he wanted to be a Death Eater.”
Dawn giggled and Ginny looked confused. “What?” she asked
“You just said Draco and not Malfoy.”
“Oh, I did, didn’t’t I? Well I think I believe you.”
“I just wish Harry and Ron wouldn’t be so stuck up, I mean, they have one opinion about someone and they never change it.”
“Yeah they are pigheaded, but give them a little more time and I think they will see Draco’s new side too.”
Dawn sighed. Harry and Ron were her friends and she hated that they didn’t like Draco. But Draco was more than a friend and the least that she wanted was to lose him.
“Hey, what are you doing? I’ve waited like forever.” Hermione said and stepped into the changing rooms.
“Sorry Mione, it’s my fault.” Dawn replied and the two beaters, began to change back into their school robes.
“And how’s that?”
“Dawn and Draco are going out on a date.”
“No way!” Hermione gasped and stared at her two female friends.
“Yes way. He asked her to go to Hogsmeade with him.” Ginny grinned while buttoning up her robe.
“That’s….wow….I don’t know what to say, Harry and Ron will be totally upset.”
“I know.” Dawn sighed deeply and braided her hair back.
“They will get used to the idea of you and Malfoy together. Believe me, I know them.”
“I hope you’re right.” Dawn answered and grabbed Clem. The three of them left the changing rooms and made their way back to the castle.
“I think it would be the best if we don’t tell them about your date with Malfoy until Saturday, when there is no other way.” Hermione said, when they reached the entrance of the castle.
“Sounds good to me. Don’t want them to flip twice. Once is enough.”
They said their goodbyes and Ginny and Hermione walked back to the Gryffindor tower, while Dawn made her way to her common room.
Halfway there she heard a feminine voice. “You’ve got a nice broom.”
Confused, Dawn turned around and came face to face with no one else than Pansy Parkinson. And beside her a girl Dawn knew from Potions. The girl was Millicent Bulstrode and both were scowling at Dawn.
“What do you want?” she asked, irritated.
“I am warning you, you better stay away from Draco, or you will regret it.” Pansy said, but Dawn just giggled.
“Oh now I am afraid, cause the puggirl threatened me. See I am shaking in my boots.” Dawn looked down at herself and said, “I mean of course if I wore boots, but I think you get what I mean.”
“We can make your life a living hell.” Now Millicent spoke. It was the first time, Dawn had ever heard her speak.
“I doubt that. You know besides your bad fashion sense, you two aren’t really scary. So leave me alone and I will forget that this happened. Besides, you two can’t stop me seeing Draco. He is my friend and nothing will change that fact.” With that Dawn turned around and made a few steps into the direction of her common room, when she heard Pansys voice.
“Don’t you dare run away from me, you little mudblood.” When Dawn turned around she saw that Pansy pointed her wand at her. She ducked the spell and sprang immediately back to her feet.
“You will regret that.” she growled and wanted to attack her, but they were interrupted. “What’s going on here?” Dawn sighed happily, she knew that voice, it was Spike.
“Nothing.” Pansy said, then she glared at Dawn and the two walked away.
“Thanks Spike.” Dawn grinned and hugged her “brother”.
“Anything for you Niblet. Were they bothering you?”
“You know just the usual. Threats and stuff.” Spike laughed and ruffled Dawns hair.
“Hey…” the teen complained.
“If they bother you too much, come to me, I will take care of it. I am a teacher now, you know I can give detention.”
“Thanks. I will keep it in mind. See you tomorrow.”
Dawn winked at Spike and made her way back to her common room. When she entered it, she sighed deeply. It seemed like everyone was against her and Draco’s relationship. When there was one in the first place. Somehow Dawn was confused.
Groaning she slipped out of her robes, placed Clem in front of her bed and climbed in. She was so tired and she had to sleep, cause there would be a game tomorrow. Her first Quidditch game ever. Gryffindor against Hufflepuff.
Dawn was asleep in no time.
