Chapter 2
Once again, I own none of the characters in this story. They either belong to Joss Whedon or J.K. Rowling.
"What are you doing here?" Snape asked. "You're supposed to be in America with your mother."
Faith's glare got even colder, if that was possible. "Mom died a long time ago. I've been on my own for years."
He sighed. "Faith, I'm sorry, but it's not safe here."
"It wasn't safer in America either. Being a Slayer takes all the safety out of a girl's life. Plus a couple of weeks ago, some dudes in robes tried to take me out. I figured that was your department so I came here."
His jaw dropped open. "Are you alright?"
"I'm five by five," she said. "But Moldybutt isn't going to be when I get my hands on him. His flunkies totally ruined my shirt."
So Voldemort had sent Death Eaters after his daughter. This definitely wasn't good. "We have to get you to Hogwarts," he said gravely. He grabbed her arm and started pulling her towards Hogwarts. "If Voldemort is after you then it's not safe here."
"Get your greasy hands off of me!" she snapped. She pulled herself out of his grip. "I'm not hiding from anybody."
"Faith please," he pleaded. "This is not the time to be stubborn. Just do as I say and come with me. You came looking for my help and I will give it to you as long as you stop being so bloody stubborn."
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'll play along for now. But if I get attacked again, I'm going up to Moldybutt and ripping his fucking head off."
The tone in her voice left no doubt in his mind that she would do it. He just hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. He didn't want her putting herself in danger like that. Of course, her being the Slayer involved serious danger. But Slayers were made to fight vampires and demons. He wasn't sure what would happen if one faced off with a powerful wizard like Voldemort.
When they reached Hogwarts, he took her straight to Dumbledore's office. They found the Headmaster at his desk, eating lemon drops. "Severus," Dumbledore said as they came in. "I was starting to get a little worried. Did everything go alright?"
"Yes," Snape said. "But I think Voldemort suspects me. He sent Death Eaters after my daughter."
Faith glared at him again. "I wish you wouldn't tell people that."
Dumbledore frowned. "Oh dear," he said quietly. "This isn't good." He studied Faith closely. "Are you a witch?"
"Hell no," Faith said. "And I don't ever want to be."
"I don't think Faith has displayed any kind of magic ability," Snape said slowly. "But she's the Slayer, so that would give Voldemort plenty of reason to want her."
"How do you know I haven't displayed any magic?" Faith asked. "You didn't stick around long enough to find out. And by the way, I'm not the only Slayer. There's tons of Slayers now. So why is he targeting me."
"A Slayer has never been a daughter of a wizard before," Dumbledore said thoughtfully. "Slayers have always been pure Muggles. If Voldemort wants you its because he wants your power."
"So what do we do?" Snape asked. "It's not safe to let her out on her own."
"I agree," Dumbledore said. "I think it's best if Faith stays here until we get this matter with Voldemort resolved."
Faith rolled her eyes. "Oh great. It's going to be just like being in prison again."
Snape stared at her in shock. "When did you go to prison?"
"A few years ago. I broke out though."
"And what did you get sent there for?"
"Murder three, twenty five to life."
"Okay that's it, you're grounded."
"Oh bite me Dad."
