chapter 2
Universes Dawn Never Visited
Disclaimers: I own nothing. Wish I did. If any vengeance demons are listening... ;)
Universe Number 3:
Dawn fell with a shriek. It was a very long fall, or at least, that's how it seemed to her, the last few seconds of her life stretching out into eternity as she fell through the vortex. Her life flashed before her eyes, ending abruptly, not in a hard thud, but, surprisingly, in a loud SPLAT! Opening her eyes, she found herself sprawled in a heap across a series of roasted turkeys on a long table. A pudgy young man in medieval clothes holding a carving knife and fork stared at her in horror, mouth moving soundlessly.
"Ow," she moaned. "Where the hell am I?" She looked around at the gothic-style banquet hall, filled with people dressed for every century imaginable. Blinking, she focused on a blur of white off to the side of her. As she slowly regained her focus, the blur resolved itself into a giant, white, bearlike demon. That in and of itself was nothing wigworthy. The fact that the creature was eating candles dipped in ranch dressing, however, was a bit on the unusual side.
"Hi," said Snowclaw, "Welcome to Castle Perilous."
for those not in the know, this was a crossover with John DeChancie's Castle Perilous series, which I highly recommend.
