Chapter One

Universes Dawn Never Visited.

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Well, nothing but my car, but that's not relevant here. I am making no money.

Dawn stood on the wobbling tower, tear-stricken as she watched her sister plummet into the portal she had opened. She was dead long before she hit the ground. Everyone knows this story. But, what everyone DOESN'T know is that for every universe in which Buffy jumped, there exist a hundred where Dawn wouldn't let her. Universes where the Key was carried away by her portal, to lands distant and previously unknown. This is their story.

Universe Number 1:

Dawn fell through the portal without a sound. This was what she was made for, and she would be the one to stop the damage she had done. She knew she would die, but the knowledge that her sister would live gave her courage. What she didn't expect was the landing. It was hard, but not to the extent that she was expecting. She was...Alive?! And lying on something kind of soft. Kind of soft and...moving? She hadn't meant to squish anyone! Rolling over, she looked at her living cushion. It was kind of a blue furry rug-like thing. Then she looked up and came face-to-face with a giant EYE. An eye with green arms and legs. They looked at each other, and both started screaming.

“Mike!” said the blue monster, “Stop that! It's just a kid.” The monster slowly stood up, and up, and up. “It's ok, we're not going to hurt you. What's your name?”

“We're not going to hurt her?! How about us? It's going to hurt us!” screamed the green monster.

Dawn rolled her eyes. “My name is Dawn. This isn't hell... is it?” When the blue monster shook his head, Dawn smiled. “Monsters or demons, huh? Feels just like home. So, what can I do to get in trouble around here?”

Smiling, Dawn and Sully walked off into the sunset, followed closely by the ever-complaining Mike Wazouski.

Universe 2:

As the brilliant white light surrounded her, Dawn closed her eyes. She had only been alive for a few months, and now she was going to die. Life sucked. At least her family would be safe. At that thought, she hit the ground. Huh, she thought, that wasn't so bad. Hey, I'm alive!

Looking around her, Dawn grew anxious. It was dark and gloomy, and looked like a normal city. A billboard advertising some beach towered over her. That was when she noticed the traffic stopped all around her, with people inside either dead or asleep.

“I'm in Hell,” she whispered. “This must be Hell.” Around her, buildings began to change and grow, and she ducked out of sight just in time to see a group of bald dudes in black coats levitating by. “Ok, dead people, moving buildings, and vampire looking guys. I'm either in Hell or Cleveland. Nothing else could be so bad.” With that, she turned and made her way out of the dark city.
