Arriving at Hogwarts pt 2

Hey all! Sorry about the delay. Just a few things, I need a beta badly!!! If you're up to my crazy-ness and horrible deadline keeping skills then let me know! Also, remember, nothing is as it seems, this a very convoluted stories and everything will be explained, plot holes are there to be interesting and make people wonder (most of them anyway, some of them are mistakes and the reason i need a beta!). Finally, this chapter's a little crazy, but bear with me, it will all be unraveled and explained, some in the next chapter. Disclaimer's in the first chapter. Without further ado, enjoy!

LAST TIME:
“Dusk, I’m so sorry,” Dawn said as she gathered him up into her lap, rocking him back and forth.

“N-not your fa-fault.” Draco muttered, relaxing a little in her arms.

Snape reached them within seconds, robes billowing as he glared down at the pair. “Mr. Malfoy, what was the meaning of that little escapade.”

“Oh stick it up your ass, Lucius. You can’t have him,” Dawn glared tiredly, too worn to bother getting angry. “Now leave before I decide to kill you here and now.”

McGonagall stopped in shock, just behind a corner, listening to their conversation with growing interest.

NOW:

“You can’t be with him all the time, Dawnie.” Lucius taunted, unfazed by the threat.

That got Dawn’s attention, “Don’t you dare call me that!” she roared, eyes blazing in hatred as Draco whimpered softly and tried to get closer to her then he already was. She automatically began to rub his back soothingly, still glaring at the man in front of her. “Only my family is aloud to call me that.”

“And what am I?” was the taunting response.

“My family is setting up a school in America; you are not and will never be my family. You may have had a hand in making me, but that doesn’t make you family, and Draco isn’t your family anymore either, he’s ours! You lost your chance with him, Lucius, so go run back to your precious Dark Lord and go cry to him because you are never getting my Dusk back! When Buffy comes she’ll kill you, if I haven’t yet.” Dawn sneered at him.

“Stop calling me Lucius and I won’t call you Dawnie.” Lucius looked around, finally becoming nervous. “If you blow my cover I’ll kill you before you even know what hit you. Then where would your precious ‘Dusk’ be?”

“Oh, I’m telling Dumbledore as soon as I get a free moment.” Dawn said with a sweet smile, transforming from anger to sugary sweet in ten seconds flat. “He absolutely must know about this.”

“You wouldn’t dare.”

“Wouldn’t I?”

“I’ll kill you.”

“Go ahead and try.” Dawn stood up, placed Draco in a corner away from her, stepped in front of Lucius and spread out her arms as an invitation. “You can’t even touch me.”

“Don’t think I won’t.”

“I’ll make you a deal. You kill me and you get Draco, you don’t kill me, you leave him alone. You only get one shot.” Dawn said, eyeing him.

“Deal.” Lucius stuck out his hand.

“Nope, this is a blood pact.” Dawn flipped open a blade from her wrist and sliced open her hand, then handed the dagger to Lucius to do the same. He did so without hesitation. Then they shook hands. “Take your best shot.”

“Avada,” Lucius started.

McGonagall started foreword. “N-no. D-d-dawnie’ll be fine.” Draco said, putting a hand in front of her. She glanced down, surprised and wondering when he got there. “Watch.” Was all he said.

Dawn didn’t move, she just looked at him blankly waiting for him to make his move.

“Kedarva!” green light shot from Lucius wand straight at Dawn, hitting her in the chest, she was flung back by the force of the blast. Lucius smiled in triumph, crowing “Stupid girl! Thought you could stand up to a full wizard. Now Draco will be properly turned back to our side.”

“Forgetting our deal so soon?” Dawn asked, feigning surprise. She stood slowly, cracking her knuckles and neck after she was fully standing, then stretch out other muscles as she looked at him and said, “That was more powerful then I thought at first, but that is the last time I’ll ever underestimate you. You just surprised me, now I’m sore.” She pouted, then folded backward into a back bend to crack her back.

“That was a killing curse!” Lucius cried in surprise. “How did you manage to survive?”

“Hello? Basically grew up on a Hellmouth. A simple killing curse like that won’t hurt me. The two most powerful Wicca in the world were and are my friends. They put protections from here to Kingdom Come on me. A small curse by a wand-waving freak is nothing against their protections.” Dawn snorted in amusement at the thought, righting herself in a back walkover. “Don’t flatter yourself. I told you, you can’t touch me.”

“S-see, Dawnie is f-fine.” Draco said proudly to the stunned McGonagall.

“Draco, come here, he’s gone so you can bring whoever’s with you.” Dawn called a few seconds later. “I think I scared him.”

Draco turned to McGonagall. “C-come on.”

“Why are you stuttering? You never had this problem before.” McGonagall said severely, glancing down as she followed the boy.

“If you take us to Professor Dumbledore we can explain the whole thing.” Dawn replied, as they came up to her. “Dusk, hun, got any of your super pain-killer potion on you? I really need it.”

Draco wordlessly took out a small vial and a mug and poured a large portion into the cup.

“Isn’t that too much?” McGonagall asked, watching Dawn down it. “And what exactly just happened?”

“Damn, that’s nasty. No, I need larger doses then most people, kinda built up some immunity with how often I've needed it.” Dawn shrugged. “So, can we see Professor Dumbledore? I’ll answer all your questions there.”

“I think that would be best.” McGonagall led them to a gargoyle and said, “Chocolate Frogs.” The statue moved to reveal stairs which they were led up quickly. “Wait here, I’ll get Professor Dumbledore.”

“He won’t l-leave me alone.” Draco told her as soon as McGonagall had left.

“I know, but now at least he won’t underestimate me anymore. Now he’ll think twice before trying me again.” Dawn replied, leaning back into the couch.

“Dawnie!” Luna cried, running into the office before Dumbledore and McGonagall could get fully in. “I felt you, are you okay? Dad would kill me if anything happened to you; actually I suppose I would have to be Mum now, if she hasn’t gone for a walk in the sun recently.”

“Calm down, Night. I’m fine, dear old dad hit me with that killing curse thing but Wills and Tara laid so many protections on me it's like I'm in a bubble.” Dawn grinned. “I thought Dru was healed, why would she care about me anyway?”

“Not healed in the head.” Luna said in a singsong tone, both girls started to crack up as Luna started to spin and hum.

Everyone else in the room looked at them, Dumbledore in amusement, McGonagall and Draco in confusion.

“Sorry Professors.” Luna said, still grinning, then turned to Dawn, “Remember, she liked you. Pretty green lights and all.”

“Oh yeah, forgot about that. One sec, this is really bugging me.” Dawn turned to a corner of the room and clapped her hands. “Reveal.”

A burst of air blew into the corner, revealing Potter and Weasley standing there, having previously been hidden by an invisibility cloak.

“No way am I letting them know about my Dusk.” Dawn said, defiantly. “It’s none of their business what happened to him, they shouldn’t be here anyway.”

“You are quite right,” Dumbledore agreed, blue eyes staring over his glasses sternly at the two boys. “You two should leave, I will talk to you later.”

The two boys silently left the room, slightly embarrassed about being found out.

“Now, what has gotten Professor McGonagall so worked up?” Dumbledore asked, turning to the twins.

“Oh, that, she probably heard me calling Lucius by his name, he’s disguised as Snape you know. I thought Buffy told you Snape was dead.” Dawn tilted her head.

“That letter never reached me, I’m afraid.”

“Right, the wannabe big bad. I could’ve sworn that it was in the same letter as about Dusk here, maybe he just sent on that part so as not to be too suspicious. Anyway, it goes like this. Draco here, decides he doesn’t want to be a Death Eater, he wants to go live with his older sister, and his twin, though he never met his twin before. Now daddy dearest doesn’t like that plan and he decides to torture poor little Dusk with this pain causing curse thingy and many other things, probably best to leave it there, insert gory details of your choosing. Now this older sister of his, along with his now dead real mother, had thought this would happen and made a deal with his step-mother Narcissa. Narcissa made sure that Dusk got to his older sister, real mother, and safety, even though she normally is a shallow, stupid bitch. Then,as I mentioned mom's dead, and said older sister and friends had to defeat their own big bad, the First Evil. Nasty incorporeal bastard, but now he’s dead, along with SunnyD, or, as affectionately known by all, Sunnyhell. Now Dusk is here, with me, the twin, for protection, and our older sister is possibly on the way and can I go murder Lucius now?” Dawn said, almost in one entire breath. “Oh yeah, almost forgot, Dusk’s god-father tried to come and rescue him, that’s how he was killed. Stupid noble bastard, that’s how he died, which is what I was trying to explain in the first place, wasn’t it? Can’t remember.”

Everyone was staring at her in shock, except for Luna. She giggled, causing the attention to switch to her.

“I’ll translate for you. Draco refused to take the Dark Mark when Lucius wanted him to take it; he wanted to go stay with his older sister and twin. Lucius didn’t let him leave and instead Draco was tortured with the Crucitas Curse among other things you don’t want to know about. But Buffy, his older sister, and their mom, who recently died from a brain tumor, had thought this might happen so she talked with Narcissa, Draco’s step-mother, and told her to get Draco to Buffy if this happened, so she did. But at the time Buffy was fighting some other enemy, so after they defeated their enemy, who was incorporeal, Dawn and Draco came here, and Buffy is possibly on her way. Draco’s godfather, who I’m going to assume was Professor Snape, died trying to protect Draco.” Luna smiled. “Dawn is hard to understand sometimes.”

“So his stutter is a remainder of being tortured by an Unforgivable Curse?” McGonagall asked.

“Yep, among other things. Can I kill Lucius now?” Dawn begged again.

“No, he’s needed to teach Potions, I can’t find anyone on short notice.” Dumbledore sighed. "And now that we know who he really is, we'll just keep a close eye on him."

“But I really want to kill him! He deserves to die, I’m sure you could find someone! And besides, that plan's worked so well in the past.” Dawn argued, pouting. “I could ask my friend to teach until you found a replacement, she’s a good teacher and good at potions.”

“You sure she can handle the stress?” Luna asked, cocking an eyebrow.

“Yeah, she’s good, as long as it’s just potions, she’s drained from waking up everyone.” Dawn shrugged. “She says she’ll can be here as soon as we need her, but Buffy probably won’t be able to come soon because the school is taking up a lot of time.”

“How did you already ask her? Wait, waking everyone…” Luna trailed off, wide eyed. “Spike’s favorite food?”

“Everyone, everyone. We gathered everyone we could find away from the eyeless. She woke them all up with an ax thing, scythe I think it’s called. Will had an amulet given to him by your great-grandfather who got it from W&H. It defeated the I.B. but killed your da in the process. Idiot fell for my sister and wouldn’t let her die. Don’t get why the Dark One didn’t get it though. Probably forgot what she was.” Dawn looked quizzically at Luna. “You meet the Nerds?”

“Nah, but mum’s stars told her everything. Mrs. Edith was sad about Tara.” Luna shrugged.

Dawn looked slightly apprehensive. “I’ll tell her that. So, did your mum enjoy what happened next?”

“Yeah, you know her.” Luna grinned. “I can’t believe Ahn’s saved a guy. With her personality too, and after X-man.”

“Nerd-boy was surprised too.” Dawn grinned.

“She could’ve b-been healed.” Draco said softly, looking at them. “She was barmy a-after the
awake-awakening, but y-you were f-fine.”

“We couldn’t find her.” Dawn looked down at her hands. “I blame myself everyday, so does X-man, he blames me and himself.”

“I-I’ll set him stra-straight.” Draco said. “It wasn’t y-your fault.”

Dumbledore cleared his throat lightly. “As fascinating as this conversation is to listen to, we were discussing the job of Potions Master.”

“Right. I can find a temporary replacement until you find someone permanent. She can get here whenever we need her to.” Dawn said.

“Who is this person you keep talking about?” McGonagall demanded.

“Her name is Willow Rosenberg; she’s the most powerful Wicca in the world and my half-sister. She taught me everything I know about magic, potions was her specialty though. We have a telepathic link so she can know if I'm in danger, or Dusk is, that's how I know her answer.” Dawn looked straight at Dumbledore. “You could’ve just asked you know.”

“It’s better to trust the eyes then the ears.” Dumbledore said. “Especially in this day and age.”

“No, it’s not.” Dawn, Luna and Draco all said at the same time. “It’s better to trust your instincts; they can save your life, as they’ve saved mine many times before. Your instincts are smarter then anything else residing in you body, they warn you and tell you what to do. Illusions can be easily placed, white noise will deafen you, or some one will hypnotize you. Never look a stranger in the eye; they may slit your throat like Kendra, never listen to a stranger, for they can force to invite them in. If you have a bad feeling about someone who tries to get you alone, don’t go without your stake. And don’t forget the number one rule, don’t die. This will save your life.”

Dumbledore blinked in surprise as McGonagall stared openly. Dawn, Luna and Draco stared at each other.

“Oops.” Dawn grinned.

“I g-guess we did le-learn something this sum-summer.” Draco returned the grin weakly.

“Mum liked your sister’s speeches so she taught them to me.” Luna grinned as well. “Crazy woman.”

“What was that?” McGonagall asked, coming out of her stupor.

“Ummm,” Dawn started, looking around wildly before asking, “Vampire?”

“What?” Everyone else in the room asked, surprised at this non sequitur, but Dawn wasn’t really looking at them.

“Sorry, wait, no,” Dawn’s brows furrowed in concentration. “Dusk, Night, give me your hands.”

The two did as they were told. Dawn’s brow furrowed even more. “Holy shit!”

“Ms. Summers, what is going on?” McGonagall demanded.

“Something happened to Lucius.” Dawn said, very disappointed. “That sucks ass! Sorry Professors.”

“How do you know that?” Dumbledore asked, confusion showing slightly on his face.

“Because I told her.” A black haired woman appeared in the room. She wore sweats and a work out jacket and her long hair was in a ponytail. Her green eyes were sparkling as she smiled at Dawn. “People have to be careful what they wish for, huh Dawnie?”

“Who are you and how did you get into my school?” Dumbledore demanded, rising with his wand pointed. Dawn stared, mouth open, at the woman in front of them.

“I teleported in after someone wished vengeance upon Mr. Malfoy.” The woman said simply.

“You might want to strengthen those wards, Professor; anyone could just walk right in.” She stared hard at Dumbledore for a moment before laughing. “I always knew you’d wind up Headmaster!”

“Who are you?” Dumbledore asked again, a steely tone in his voice as his eyes lost their twinkle in light of the seriousness of the matter.

The woman looked taken aback. “Why I never! You don’t recognize me?” she turned to Dawn who was still in shock. “Do you?”

“Of course I do.” Dawn replied slowly, finally closing her mouth, and, looking at the ground, she added, “I’m sorry we didn’t find you.”

“It’s okay, I am so over that. I mean, getting chopped in half wasn’t the best experience I’ve had, it was very painful and bloody, but hey! I get to be a vengeance demon again, this time with no mortal feelings or side-effects! So that’s a bright side.”

Dawn squealed and jumped up to hug the woman. “It is really you!” Dawn grinned at her as she pulled away. “I guess we’re even, I didn’t save you, and you castrated who I wanted to, and made him run away.”

“I wouldn’t go that far, Dawnie. I did end up dying as a result, and you can't really count what I just did as anything, he'll probably get it fixed. And the dying, you can't forget me dying. The only thing in the mortal life that I miss is the wonderful-” The woman was cut off by a hand slapping across her mouth.

“So, way too much information, Ahns.” Dawn said, smiling. “Tell D’hoffram I say hi, and I’m still thinking.”

“Fine, if you don’t want to hear my wonderful stories I’ll tell them to someone who cares.” With a sniff Anyaka vanished.

At once Dawn and Luna collapsed in laughter, Draco chuckled quietly as well. When they finally got themselves under control Dawn finished explaining their situation. Dumbledore thought quietly for a moment before reaching his decision.

“Miss Summers, I don’t believe it is necessary to bother you friend for this matter. I know of one young woman who would be glad to take over this position.” Dumbledore smiled at them over his glasses. “Now, I believe that this has been enough excitement for one night. Please return to your dorms and have a good night.”

Luna, Dawn and Draco nodded, and left the room.
