Ten-Forward was bustling with activity, as per usual. Many had just gotten off duty, and it was the Enterprise's equivalent of Friday night. A jazz band had set up in one corner, adding to the festive atmosphere. Conversations filled the air, blending into a babbling stream of noise. All except for one table. A table in the far corner, set in shadow, dimly illuminated by the stars. There, a couple sat, looking deep into each other's eyes. They were the perfect couple, elegantly matched with dark brown hair, she in a blue uniform, he in a black suit. They looked so natural together that to those observing, they could have been destined to be together.

"So, um, how's your sunday?" Xander asked, haltingly.

"Good...and your pie?" Deanna responded weakly. It was almost the most they had said to each other the whole night.

"It's alright." Xander hesitated and continued. "You know, this really isn't working out. I mean, you have the whole Empath thing going on, I have the whole One Who Sees thing going on, but..." he trailed off, uncertain of how to continue.

"I know, what was Willow thinking when she set us up? Just because we're similar, that doesn't mean we're dating material." She smiled, finally having come across something they could talk about.

A wicked smile crossed Xander's face. "You know, we really should do something to...thank her for this. Maybe we should find someone to set HER up with. You know anyone who could be set up with her?" He smirked.

Deanna smiled, thoughts of mischief dancing in her head. "Oh I might have a few ideas. Since she's decided she's bi, I think I have the PERFECT man for her. She's the science type, so how about...Lt. Barklay?"

And as the lights dimmed further, gales of laughter exploded from the not-so-silent table in the corner.
