Surprise, Surprise

The day had been long and they had lost a lot of good fighters but, to Buffy, it was still a huge victory. Slayers 1, the First 0. And Buffy was practically glowing with pride. She knew it would be back. They all knew that the First would come back with a very literal vengeance. When the time came, Buffy and her girls would be ready. That was how she thought of them now. As her girls. She wondered if Willow felt the same way. After all, it was Willow's magic that had turned them into the Slayers that they now were. Buffy's power and Willow's magic.

"Buffy!" Willow called.

Buffy walked across the lobby of the Hyperion Hotel. It was their temporary headquarters since the collapse of Sunnydale. Buffy had phoned Angel in L.A. not long after the ruin of her hometown and he had given the okay to use the hotel. He assured her that she and the others wouldn't be in his way because Angel Investigations had decided to take over the L.A. branch of Wolfram & Hart. Buffy was still reeling from the shock of that one. Angel taking over an evil law firm. Huh. Anyway, he had said that the hotel's lease was paid for the next three months, so she could stay as long as she needed.

"Buffy, I just got off the phone with the coven. You know that spell they used to help us find the potentials? Well, they thought that maybe they could help us find the new Slayers using a stronger version of that spell." Willow was barely able to contain her excitement. "They used a few different ingredients but then the spell was pretty much the same. They sprinkled the ingredients over a map and it lit up where the new Slayers are."

"I know how it works, Will," Buffy told Willow to keep her from getting too deep into the witchy details.

"Buffy, the whole world lit up! You guys are everywhere."
