Humph, a one off piece that I just felt bored enough to write…. Enjoy.
Jealousy lyrics by Pet Shop Boys, JK Rowling owns Harry Potter and Joss Whedon owns Buffy. Like you didn’t already know….
I own nothing. Trust me on this – no one else takes a week off work (the week before pay day) because they can’t afford to get to work. No seriously.
Jealousy
At dead of night, when strangers roam
The streets in search of anyone who'll take them home
I lie alone, the clock strikes three
And anyone who wanted to could contact me
Harry Potter sipped his firewhiskey as he looked up at the clock. An unconscious sigh slipped from his lips. Waiting, he decided was the worst part.
At dead of night, 'til break of day
Endless thoughts and questions keep me awake
It's much too late
His mind went back to the day they met. After the defeat of Voldemort he had felt he could take on the world. Ending up in a relationship after bumping into her on a corner had made him feel even more incredible.
Where've you been?
Who've you seen?
You didn't phone when you said you would!
Do you lie?
Do you try
To keep in touch? You know you could
I've tried to see your point of view
But could not hear or see
For jealousy
He sipped more of his firewhiskey as he glanced back up at the clock. Still no sign.
I never knew time passed so slow
I wish I'd never met you, or that I could bear to let you go
At dead of night, 'til break of day
Endless thoughts and questions keep me awake
It's much too late
He remembered the way it had started. How he had dumped his then girlfriend for her. Ginny Weasley could only be considered a much poorer copy of her. So perfect. And still not home.
Where've you been?
Who've you seen?
You didn't phone when you said you would!
Do you lie?
Do you try
To keep in touch? You know you could
I've tried to see your point of view
But could not hear or see
For jealousy
They were perfect together, the perfect couple. The Daily Prophet couldn’t get enough, and when he’d proposed they ran a weekly supplement on the pair celebrating their engagement. The boy who lived and the hellmouth witch.
Where've you been?
Who've you seen?
You didn't phone when you said you would!
Do you lie?
Do you try
To keep in touch? You know you could
I've tried to see your point of view
But could not hear or see
For jealousy
He remembered the moment it had started to fall apart. How he had refused to listen to her concerns. How she had wanted him to take the job as minister of magic. When she had pointed out how his best friend still got no respect for being less than equal in the eyes of the wizarding community. He hadn’t listened.
Where've you been?
Who've you seen?
You didn't phone when you said you would!
Do you lie?
Do you try
To keep in touch? You know you could
I've tried to see your point of view
But could not hear or see
For jealousy
So she had gone out determined to get someone who would listen. And she’d found someone. A Malfoy someone. The irony of Malfoy involved in muggle-wizard relations would have brought a smile to his face if it wasn't for her in the middle of it.
Where've you been?
Who've you seen?
You didn't phone when you said you would!
Do you lie?
Do you try
To keep in touch? You know you could
I've tried to see your point of view
But could not hear or see
For jealousy
Harry Potter watched the clock as dawn broke. He knew then he had lost. Willow Rosenberg, his Willow, wasn’t his now. He had hoped she would come home, but she hadn’t.
I never knew 'til I met you
Willow Rosenberg frowned as she saw her soon-to-be-ex-fiancée drunk asleep in his armchair again. She sighed. This would be painful, but necessary. Who would have guessed she’d judged Mr Harry Potter completely wrong. She cleared her throat loudly to wake him up.
“Harry, we need to talk.”
End.
