"Percy."
He flinched, narrowing his eyes and staring stubbornly forward. He
was not going to let her get to him.
"Percy."
She was not going to get to him. He was a mature responsible adult,
and he had work to do. He was in charge of very serious things here
at the Ministry, very important indeed. She had no business trying
to come up here and distract him.
"Percy."
This time she was whispering right in his ear. He gave a slight
shiver but still refused to budge. Giving himself a mental shake, he
focused his attention back on his work. The regulation of cauldron
sizes for . . . Dear God! Was she biting his ear!
"Come on Percy. You can't ignore me forever."
We'll see about that. He scoffed to himself, eyes determinedly going
back to the report on his desk. It was very important for him to
finish this report. He needed to get some of this work out of the
way, it was just building up all the time. He had responsibilities,
anyone could see that. Well, everyone except her.
"I'll start stripping right here."
"You will not!"
The shout came out of his throat before he could even stop himself.
A passing wizard has stopped startled outside his door. The middle-
aged man was regarding Percy with shock, eyes going to the innocent
looking redhead in the office with him.
Knowing his face had gone red, Percy managed a tight-lipped smile for
the wizard outside. Stomping to the door, he peeked outside,
noticing how other people in the hallway were rather busy trying to
overhear what was going on with the two of them.
A frustrated growl tore from his lips and he slammed his office door
shut. Honestly, didn't people have anything better to do at work
than eavesdrop on him? Really, weren't they professionals.
He turned around, stopping in his tracks. She was perched on his
desk, his report pushed back to just behind her. A rather teasing
smile was thrown his way as he approached her.
"Get off my desk," he commanded tersely. She giggled and shook her
head.
"No way," she replied, swinging her legs a bit. "I rather like it
here."
"Do you have some purpose in being in my office?" he demanded of her
suddenly. "Other than to annoy me to death?"
She pursed her lips theatrically, tapping her chin as she pretended
to give the question some thought.
"No, not really," she finally answered, a bright smile on her
face. "Well, unless you count getting into your pants another
reason."
He stared at her blankly, astounded at her forwardness. She laughed
delightedly at the look on his face, giving him a frightening leer.
"Come on Percy, you know you wanna," she drawled. He shook himself,
schooling his features into an annoyed expression.
"I certainly do not!" he barked at her. "I want to do my work in
peace. You have no idea how much work I have put into that and it
needs to be done-"
"That report isn't due for another three days," she cut him off,
playfully pouting at him. "You just work too much. You've forgotten
how to have fun."
"I do not work too much," he snapped. "I work just the right
amount. And you know why? Because I'm an adult and that's what
adults do. We don't have time for frivolous fun-"
"Then make some time," she interrupted him once more. "Come on
Percy, you have to want to get out of here sometimes?"
"No," he disagreed. "I am perfectly happy to be here. If they
didn't close the office, I wouldn't leave. There is a lot of
important work to be done!"
She just gave him a look.
"In the words of your little brother, you're nutters," she tossed at
him primly. She heaved a dramatic sigh and hopped off his desk.
"I guess you're really not going to give in," she lamented.
"Of course not," he responded, a bit of pride growing in him. She
was leaving and that meant he won!
"Yeah," she nodded, heading for the door. "I guess I was wrong about
you. I'll just go see if Fred wants a good tumble in the hay."
"You do that-What?"
His brother? His annoying little brother? She was going to leave
him to go to Fred?
"Yeah," she nodded, throwing him another one of those teasing
smiles. "Unless there's someone else interested in me . . ?"
He squared his shoulders, giving her his most resolute face. She
just shrugged her shoulders, hand closing on the doorknob.
"Fred it is," she muttered to herself.
He wasn't quite sure how he had moved from in front of his desk to in
front of his door so quickly, but he did. Shocked green eyes looked
up at him, a questioning look on her face.
"You're not really going to go . . . you know?" he prompted her. A
bit of a smile came over her features. She stepped back and folded
her arms over her chest.
"And what if I do?" she demanded. "It's my business. Just because
you don't want to have any fun, doesn't mean that no one else does."
"But that kind of behaviour is just . . ." he couldn't come up with a
word for it. She just shrugged again.
"Well, I suppose we'd be dating for a while," she surmised. "After
all, it wouldn't be such a bad thing to be dating Fred. Tall,
muscular, gorgeous red hair, excellent body, to-die-for green eyes- I
mean, what more could a girl ask for?"
He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"You're just going to move onto him?" he asked incredulously. "All
these months of pestering me and now you're just going to go off and
be with my brother?"
"Well, yeah," she nodded, looking at him curiously. "I mean, it's
not like I got anywhere with you. Sometimes, a girl just has to cut
her losses and move onto someone who would actually appreciate her.
So now, if you could just-"
"You're not going," he snapped abruptly. She looked mildly
surprised, a bit of a defiant look coming over her features.
"And who is going to stop me?" she demanded, tone icy.
"I am," he replied smartly. An eyebrow was raised.
"Oh really?"
He nodded.
"How?"
He faltered for just a second. She tossed him a smirk and moved to
push him aside. Percy gave an inward sigh and decided perhaps he
hadn't won at all . . .

"Has anyone seen Willow?"
A chorus of shrugs and shaking heads answered her question. Hermione
Granger frowned, wondering where her friend had gone onto.
"You don't suppose she's chasing after Percy again, do you?" came the
question from her friend Harry Potter at her side. The last member
of the group, Ron Weasley, made a face at the mention of the cute
redhead chasing after his brother.
"I wish she would give up," Ron sighed. "As long as I've known
Percy, he's only been in love with work and his sense of importance.
That girl should just give up and move onto a more suitable, not to
mention more interesting, guy."
"Such brotherly love," Hermione murmured, leading the way down the
Ministry halls to where Percy's office was.
"It's the truth," Ron muttered defensively, trailing behind her.
"I agree," came Harry's opinion. "There's a legion of guys waiting
to fall all over her, and she spends all her time trying to get this
nutjob to notice her."
"Nutjob?" Hermione repeated.
"Well yeah," Harry shrugged. "I mean, what kind of guy repeatedly
shoots down a girl that beautiful for the sake of doing reports on
cauldrons and the such?"
Hermione grinned and shook her head. Secretly, she agreed with the
boys. Willow could just move onto someone a bit more interesting
than workaholic Percy Weasley, but the redhead didn't seem to want
to. For reason beyond anyone's comprehension, Willow really liked
Percy. And the man was too much of a fool not to return her
affections.
They were nearing Percy's office, Ron and Harry still making fun of
Percy's cauldron reports, when the door to his office burst open.
Shocked the trio watched as a slightly rumpled Willow came sauntering
out. The redhead's hair was mussed up a bit, her face flushed, and
her clothes just a bit askew. But there was this big smile on her
face, one of supreme self-satisfaction.
"Hey guys," she greeted them. "Am I late for lunch?"
Mutely, Hermione nodded, eyes widening when she saw Percy follow the
redhead out of his office. He looked just as rumpled as Willow.
Hermione swore she saw a hickey forming on his neck. He was busily
trying to tame his clothes as well, an odd grin on his face as well.
"Percy decided to join us," Willow informed her shocked friends. Ron
started making choking sounds, either from trying to cover his
laughter, or being sick at the idea of his brother and his
friend . . . well, you know.
Willow just walked up to them brightly, pulling Percy along with
her. Hermione walked up to her friend, the two girls walking just a
bit ahead of the boys.
"What happened?" Hermione asked in a whisper. Willow gave her an
impish grin in response, tossing a look over her shoulder at Percy.
Hermione followed her gaze, noticing the dreamy way Percy was looking
at Willow now.
Willow just gave him a wink, before turning to Hermione with a wide
grin.
"Mister Weasley decided he wanted to play after all."
